Crop Update 03.15.12

Our spring garden is almost in!  We have spinach, carrots, cauliflower, onions, cabbage, and lettuce are planted.  We will be getting the broccoli in as soon as possible and the kale and swiss chard will be planted in the next few weeks.

We had family onion planting days on Sunday and Tuesday

Jetti removing the young onion plants from their flats and laying them out

Kenneth, Jadyn, Steve, and Travis planting onions

Avonlea enjoying a mouthful of dirt soil organisms and Sara

Cabbage plants in the greenhouse.  Steve and Travis planted these in the garden this afternoon in between rains.

Red Romaine Lettuce, this too was set out today

Swiss Chard

Tomato plants.

We just transplanted the tomato plants to larger containers, they will be transferred again before they are big enough to go in the ground.

Pepper Plants

The peppers will follow the same process as the tomatoes though they aren't quite big enough to be transplanted to cell packs just yet.

Donatello (Tello) - tired after a long day of supervising

Lettuce Mix - overwintered and starting to grow again having survived the frosts

Kale - also overwintered

Some of the flowers from our Ovation Greens Mix, Tatsoi, I think

If all goes well you'll be seeing the final product of our labors this year at the markets!
